Last week I posted information about the present status of the Meitler Study in the bulletin, on the parish web site and on sycamore. Here is a brief followup.
There is much information that can be garnered by going to www.meitler.com and clicking on Client Access: type in Omaha for all the information that led us up the present proposal. When you click Omaha then look for Draft strategic directions for schools. You can also type in OmahaListen and you can review all the feedback that has been given both in round 2 and round 3 of the consultation. Our feedback is posted as well.
The following is a list of those who have represented our school at the various major consultation meetings . These people have met also by themselves to discuss and complete various homework assignments as well as feedback assignments.
Nick Steinbach, Joan Luebbert, Lori Bauer, Lou D’Ercole, Mike Rasmussen, John Bolas, Mike Conzett, Katie Rinkol, Jeanette Manley, Bill Wachtler, Wayne Reed, Bob Kment, Dan Buck, Mary Jo Thompson…besides our two administrators and myself.

Soccer Uniform Donations
Has your kid(s) gone through a large growth spurt since spring and cannot wear his/her soccer uniform anymore? Instead of letting it collect dust, perhaps you could donate your uniform to a younger student. If you would like to do donate please comment to this news article and if you need one, watch the posts for who to contact!
Thank you! The Athletic Committee

Catholic Schools Week
HAPPY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK! Thanks you to all who support Catholic Education and our mission.
God, our Father and Creator, be with us in our school. Help us to treasure your gift of life and treat one another with care. Let us always remember that we are all created in your image. Come, Lord Jesus, and be with us in our school. Guide our teachers, guide our parents, and lead our students to recognize you in all people. Come, Holy Spirit, and be with us in our school. Give us a vision for the future, and the determination for shaping a faith-filled future.
Amen.

LB 50, the Elementary and Secondary Educational Opportunity Act, is still pending in the Revenue Committee. This bill must advance very soon from committee to General File (floor of Legislature) in order to have a realistic chance at a floor debate and passage this session. I/We would urge you to immediately contact members of the Revenue committee (see Action Alert) by phone and/or e-mail.
THANK YOU!

Elementary and Secondary Educational Opportunity Act
LB 50 ACTION ALERT
LB 50, the Elementary and Secondary Educational Opportunity Act, would allow individuals, married couples, and businesses to claim a state income tax credit for a portion of their donations to Scholarship-Granting Organizations to help children attend privately-operated elementary and secondary schools in Nebraska. The bill would provide a tax incentive to encourage donations to Scholarship-Granting Organizations, creating a new source of resources to help limited-income families to afford the cost of private-school tuition. To read LB 50, please visit http://bit.ly/dVhh3R. For information on potential cost savings to the State of Nebraska by passing this bill, please visithttp://bit.ly/9NadZM.
Please call or e-mail members of the Revenue Committee, identify your affiliation with a private school, and urge them to advance LB 50 to General File for debate. Committees initially determine the fate of these bills, so please contact these senators even if they are not from your district.
Revenue Committee members, district #, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses:
Deb Fischer (43) dfischer@leg.ne.gov, 402-471-2628
Paul Schumacher (22) pschumacher@leg.ne.gov, 402-471-2715
Please help spread the word about LB 50 to other members of your parish/school community and request that they also call or e-mail the senators on the Revenue Committee and urge them to support and advance LB 50.
Thank you!
Jeremy P. Murphy, Associate Director for Education Issues,
1. Pell Grants help students attend and pay for colleges they choose (including private colleges and universities). A similar state-based means should be available to help families with younger children attend K-12 schools. Please help families afford the schools of their dreams and vote to advance LB 50! Thanks!
2. Many families are financially stressed. Please vote to advance LB 50 to help families bridge the difficult, increasing gap between tuition and how much they can afford to pay with their reduced net income. Thank you!
3. LB 50 would create new pathways of educational opportunity for families who wish to enroll their children in private schools, but are unable to do so due to limited means. Educating more students in private schools would save taxpayers significant sums of money. Please vote to advance LB 50. Thank you.
4. Recent Department of Revenue reports indicate that state revenue receipts have increased since the Legislature adjourned in 2011. Given this improved fiscal status, please advance LB 50 to allow the state to invest in a tax-credit scholarship program, helping families in need to educate their children in the schools of their choice. Thank you.
5. Our country and our great state are built on individuals having the opportunity to make decisions that are in the best interests of families and local communities. LB 50 supports that freedom for families to make decisions about their K-12 child's education among multiple options. Please vote to advance LB 50 from committee.
Thank you for your time and service.
6. Private schools serve the common good. Students attending private schools work hard and succeed, as demonstrated by graduation rates. Please help keep private-school education a viable option for hard-working families by voting to advance LB 50 to the floor. Thank you!
