Pro Life
The Pro-Life Committee meets regularly to discuss life issues such as abortion, human cloning, embryonic stem cell research,
and euthanasia. Their goals are to raise awareness of Catholic teaching on pro-life issues and provide information on
educational and volunteer opportunities at St. Gerald and around the city. For more information, email Michelle Watkins
(gmpuddin@netzero.com)
or contact the parish office.
In the beginning, God created man in His own image and likeness. God breathed His own life breath into Adam and Eve. We as Catholics are pro-life because life is from God and life is of God. Life is a gift from God and we are stewards of that gift. Pope John Paul II reiterated the sacredness of life in his encyclical, Evangelium Vitae, because life is from God. Life was created by God and destined for God. The Pope's encyclical emphasized that all life, especially the weak and defenseless, is to be protected.
Jesus said, "If two of
you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray,
it shall be granted to them by my heavenly father. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am in the midst of them." - Matthew 18:15-20 |

God, source of creation and love, you invite each of us to serve you through the gift of our lives. May your grace encourage men and women to serve the church as priests, sisters, brothers, and lay ministers. Make us an instrument to encourage others to give of themselves and challenge us to do the same. Amen.
