05-26-12 Place Flags on Veteran's grave at St John's Cemetery.
This is a Lewis and Clark District event. There will be a lot of other Packs participating. The scouts will meet at St. Johns cemetery 7506 South 36th Street 9AM Saturday May 26th to place flags. Most of stones have a marker in which we place the flags, but some do not. Then we place the flag at the head of the stone. A screwdriver helps out a lot, for the ground may be hard, and the shaft of the screw driver makes a good slot to place the flag. The flags are provided for us by St. Johns. This event happens rain or shine. It usually takes a couple of hours, as there are over 900 veterans laid to rest at St. Johns. It's a big place, with a lot of walking. The Scouts have done this for 10 years, so there is a system. All scouts and leaders are asked to be in uniform, and wear a smile. You can count this as one of the service projects in pack 4's Journey to Excellence program. The more we have there to help, the more fun it is, and the faster it gets done. You should really drive by on Memorial Day after we do this. It looks fantastic, and the families are very appreciative.
