ArchOmaha UNITE - Registration NOW OPEN

It's a new year, with new beginnings, and new opportunities for grace! St. Gerald is excited to announce that Unite registration for youth and adults is NOW OPEN! Read on to learn more about Jim Gaffigan - the comedian bringing his hilarious takes on food, faith, and life with five kids to the ArchOmaha Unite main stage next June.

SPOTLIGHT ON: Jim Gaffigan
A comedian at a Catholic event? And not just any comedian - Grammy-nominated comedian, actor, writer, best-selling author and hot pocket-lover Jim Gaffigan! A Catholic father of five known for family-friendly jokes, Jim performed for Pope Francis at the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia in 2015. His hilarious takes on food, faith, and life with kids will bring notes of lighthearted joy to our celebration. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch him live at ArchOmaha Unite!

UNITE Q&A: “How much do tickets cost?”
The Archdiocese of Omaha values your presence so much that admission to Unite is free. That's right - FREE! Youth and Adult attendees must preregister online individually prior to the event; admission is subject to space and availability. Out-of-town attendees may take advantage of a group hotel room rate at the Hilton Omaha, across the street from the CHI Health Center.

School of Prayer

Click on image to pop up a full sized version of this image. In Mt. 21:13, Jesus tells us that “My house shall be a house of prayer”. You and I, by virtue of our baptism into Christ, are now God’s house, God’s dwelling place, God’s temple of the Holy Spirit. In Lk. 11:1, one of Jesus’s disciples said, “Lord, teach us how to pray just as John taught his disciples.” God created us for Himself, that we might come to know Him and the profound love that He has for each of us. As disciples of Jesus, it is absolutely essential that we be deeply grounded in Him (in Love) through a life of prayer. For without Him we can do nothing (Jn. 15:5)!
If you would like to grow in your relationship with Jesus through a life of prayer, please join Fr. Mark every first Saturday of the month beginning Saturday, February 2nd at the Lakeview chapel following the 8:15 Mass. Please bring a journal and pen.

Direction for our Times

Click on image to pop up a full sized version of this image. God is always trying to reach us. Sometimes, God even chooses people in the Church to receive special messages or private revelations from Heaven. On Sat. Jan 19th from 9-3pm, a woman by the name of Anne, the Lay Apostle, is coming to our parish from Ireland. Anne has received messages from Jesus, Mary, and the Saints. Anne was also taken by Jesus to visit Heaven and Purgatory. You can learn more about her on our parish website. Join us on Jan 19th: the FULL DAY registration is $25 with lunch provided. If you can’t make the whole day then just stop by for a portion of the day.

Alpha Food Donations

Click on image to pop up a full sized version of this image. Plans are being finalized for the upcoming Alpha session starting January 27. One of the integral parts of each Alpha session is a shared meal of all the guests and Alpha team members. Food donations by our Alpha alumni and parishioners help to defray the costs of each meal for the 12 weeks.

Weekly emails sent through Sign-up Genius allow you to see what food items are needed for that week. Food donations can be brought to the Fellowship Hall when you come to church that weekend, or dropped off on Sunday afternoon by 4:15 PM.

If you are interested in donating food or have any questions, please contact Jean Thompson at stgeraldalpha@gmail.com or 402-331-7524.

Please prayerfully consider answering the call of discipleship for the upcoming Alpha session.

St. Gerald Advent Retreat - Saturday, December 1

Click on image to pop up a full sized version of this image. The Advent and Christmas seasons are upon us. Similar to Lent, the Advent season is a time of interior preparation in joyful anticipation of God's gift of new Life. The message of Advent, "Prepare the Way", is an urgent and ageless message and certainly a message for our times. It is a call to conversion, to discipleship and to preparedness for the coming of Christ who longs to enter more deeply into our hearts. Please join Fr. Mark as we take a closer look at our interior life and how we can experience more fully the birthing of God's incarnate love (Jesus) within our hearts each and every day.
