Do you have a love for Christ and desire to help St. Gerald achieve its vision of Encountering Jesus, Making Disciples, Transforming Lives? The Pastoral Council has an opening that could fulfill that for you.
The Pastoral Council's purpose and responsibilities include:
Provide advice and consultation to the Pastor, who has decision-making responsibility and accountability to the Archbishop and to the Parish.
Act as a planning body that provides vision and direction for the mission of the parish.
Cooperate with the administration (Pastor and parish staff) in providing leadership for the parish.
Cooperate with the Finance Council relating to fiscal issues of the parish.
Direct and collaborate with other ministries and groups in the parish.
Assure due process for both parishioners and pastor in serious matters of the parish.
Collaborate with other parishes, the deanery, and the Archdiocese in forums when applicable.
Some qualifications that we are looking for:
In good standing with the Catholic Church
Have an active prayer life and relationship with Jesus
Have done or are willing to do the Strength Finders assessment by Gallup and provide their top 5 strengths. (Assessment takes 30 minutes)
Have participated in ALPHA or are willing to do so
Have read or are willing to read the book, Divine Renovation, by Fr. James Mallon (A copy can be provided)
Availability for a monthly Pastoral Council meeting, currently meeting on a Saturday morning
The deadline for submissions is July 5. The Pastoral Council will prayerfully evaluate all applications and interviews will happen in July. Pastoral Council Members are selected based upon current needs for balancing the unique strengths of the individuals on the Council.
