WELCOME TO ST. GERALD PARISH, RALSTON, NEBRASKA

(Continued from page 1)

conscience. This is a very humbling thing to do. We have to swallow our pride and admit that we are weak and commit certain sins quite easily. In the "olden days" we were trained to examine our conscious every night before we went to bed and then make a good Act of Contrition. That is a good habit worth continuing. When we go the Confession we also should make a thorough examination of conscience. We can only be forgiven if we admit our sins and ask for forgiveness. Thus the importance of first knowing our sin.
The second lesson from this story is to avoid those situations which easily lead us to sin. To avoid "occasions of sin" you first have to know the areas you are weak. Thus again the importance of examining your conscience.
I would encourage everyone this Lent o examine the conscience and go to confession before Easter.
