Mission: Provide comprehensive day services and family support to
medically fragile, physically challenged and developmentally delayed
children and their families by providing service that evoke maximum
potential and foster development
7th – 12th service available: *Any age volunteer must
apply for a state approved volunteer application. It takes 2-3 weeks for
this to be approved. Then you will need a reference form. CRCC serves
all age groups that volunteers can assist and interact with
toddler/preschool or school age environments. Assist with arts and crafts,
meal times, read, and play games. Many children can benefit from 1-1 ratio
and interaction that a volunteer can offer. (Jr. High students can work with
preschool age and up. High School students can work with infants and up. In
addition they can help with housekeeping, making snacks, and cooking meals.
Volunteer Times: M-F from 3:00-5:00 during the school year and during
the summer it varies from each site. They do not provide weekend care at
this time. Holiday breaks are always a great time to volunteer.
Helpful supplies to bring if doing service: Can coordinate a group
art project with the kids if you would like.

Additional comments or items the site needs: Comfortable clothing.
Tennis shoes recommended but not required. No mini skirts, dresses, etc.
Volunteers will be interacting with the children and getting down at their
level, appropriate clothing needs to be worn to accommodate this.

7. EPS Emergency Pregnancy Services:

in the office. No working with clients unless you are 19 yrs of age.

9. Good Samaritan Nursing Home:

play piano or have any kind of performance with the elderly. They like youth
to come and read books to them. Youth & Adults need a small training if
they want to do more one on one service.

We offer volunteer opportunities on the work sites from Wednesday through
Saturday starting at 8:30 am and ending at 12:00 pm or 4:00 pm. Only groups
are allowed to work the afternoon shift from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
Individuals may only volunteer all day or for the morning shift. We are no
longer accepting individual volunteers to work the afternoon shift.*Must
be 16 or older (Miners have to fill out a parent waver from the website)
Do not have to work with a parent.
Helpful supplies to bring if doing service: Work gloves, hammers,
measuring tape, tool belt, pencils, water bottles, and sack lunch for all
day groups.
Additional comments or items the site needs: We comfortable, cool
clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Hard soled shoes. No sandals.
We can always use office supplies, old stationary, etc. We are in dire need
of funding for new computers. (Possible accepting some used computers.)
11. Heart Ministry Center – Sacred Heart Catholic Church

Mission: The heart center is a Catholic church affiliated non-profit
agency providing material and spiritual support to the poor and homeless in
the North Omaha community.
Volunteer Times: M-F 9:00-5:00, Some Saturdays
7th-12th grade service available: Sorting and sizing
clothes, stocking food on shelves. Cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, raking
leaves, yard clean up, window washing, gardening, painting, delivering food,
and many misc. jobs.
Helpful supplies to bring if doing service: Casual dress/work clothes
and work gloves
Additional comments or items the site needs: We need volunteers to
help deliver food at Thanksgiving and Christmas. We need volunteers on some
Saturdays to help clean up and re-organize.

Mission: Safe Haven is a shelter for battered women and children. We
can house up to twenty individuals and assist with their needs in regards to
domestic violence.
Volunteer Times: We are a 24/7 facility so we are very flexible.
Currently our greatest need is for babysitting Monday-Thursday
6:00am-8:00pm.
7th & 8th service available: Volunteers
must be 16 years of age of older to volunteer. Unless it is a short term
volunteer project like painting, cleaning, yard work, special seasonal
drives, etc.
9th-12th service available: Babysitting!!
Everything listed above. For those really interested and motivated there is
the potential to work in the office and staff the hotline.

through litter reduction, beautification and education.
Volunteer Times: Anytime
7th-12th grade service available: All ages can be involved
with our youth fall clean up. We give food coupons and a letter from the
mayor. Youth can also help the elderly and disabled with yard clean up.
Clean litter from a park or dam sites.
Adult to youth ratio when working at our agency: One adult per
fifteen youth
Additional comments or items the site needs: We would like a report
at the end of the year (or after each event) telling numbers of volunteers,
hours worked, and bags picked up. (Bags and equipment is provided if needed.

15. Mary Katherine McCauley Center - (Formally known as

Mission: Provide a safe and nurturing environment for up to 50
homeless guests, most of who come to us as family units.
Volunteer Times: Days/Evenings and Weekend days
7th-12th service available: Help with light
housekeeping chores, etc. Assist parents with babysitters who attend classes
through our agency. Simple office tasks. High school students would have
more responsibility given. Groups or individuals can help provide lunch for
the residents.
Helpful supplies to bring if doing service: An open heart and
willingness to visit with our guests. We provide any equipment needed for
service here.
Adult to youth ratio when working at our agency: One adult per five.
Our house is small so only small groups please.
Additional comments or items the site needs: Please dress casual. Do
not bring purse with you. We always need deodorant, bar soap, toothpaste,
shampoo, dry laundry detergent.

various areas. Childcare and field trips. Assist with seasonal outreach
