St. Gerald Fall 2008 Soccer Registration
It’s time to register for fall soccer!! We will have preseason meeting (will be
scheduled during the first week of school) with parents/coaches to hand out
game schedules, take team photos, take photos for player passes, and pass out
uniforms to those who ordered new ones.
This should help the season get off to a great start!!!
DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: Friday,
May 16, 2008
SOCCER SEASON: The soccer season begins toward the end of August,
with each team playing approximately 6 games.
Teams usually practice once per week (time determined by the
coach). Games are played at Catholic
school fields and city fields in
AGE GROUPS: Kindergarteners may now register for soccer. The Catholic Youth Soccer League is now
forming teams based on single ages (U7, U8, U9, U10, etc.), so children may
play with their same aged peers. Some
age groups may be combined as in the past (U10, U12, U14), depending on the
number of registrations. You will be
registered on the team with your same aged peers unless you request to move up
to the next age division (please note that on your registration form).
HOW TO REGISTER:
Two registration times will
be held at the school: Wednesday, May 14, 3-5 p.m., or Thursday
May 15, 5-6:30 p.m. in the conference room. **DiGiorgio’s will be available for uniform
ordering/fitting at these times**. You
may also complete the registration form and send it to the school office, or
mail form to the club registrar. If you
need extra copies, you can print the form from the School web site at http://www.stgerald.org/school. Registration
deadline is Friday, May 16, 2008.
Registrations turned in after that date will be accepted only if there
is room on a team that has already been formed.
UNIFORMS: The uniform is the St. Gerald’s reversible jersey,
blue shorts, and white soccer socks. You
must also wear shin guards. The uniform
(does not include shin guards) may be purchased from DiGiorgio’s Sportswear on
one of the registration dates (5/14 or 5/15), or at their store located at
13927 S Plaza (next to Amazing Pizza Machine), 894-5627. The cost is approximately $25.00 plus tax
(payable when ordered). Uniforms will be
delivered to parents at the preseason meeting (or to coaches if you are unable
to attend).
COACHING/TRAINING:
We need more volunteer coaches! Experience is not necessary. There is always a shortage of coach
volunteers each season, so please consider donating time for your
children. A Nebraska State Soccer
Association training seminar will be offered for all coaches (paid for by the
Club). This training will give you an
overview of soccer rules and lots of ideas on how to run your practices.
